HOMEFAQS
Our youngest members begin at a parent and toddler class suitable for those aged 18 months up to 4 years, allowing them to learn through play with a parent or guardian in our fully equipped gymnastics facility.
We always have a coach present in the gym for advice. At 3 – 4 years old they can begin our structured preschool classes without parents led by our team of expert coaches. These 45-minute classes are available at the Aberdeen Gymnastics Centre, Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm and Saturday at 2 & 3pm at Silverburn Gymnastics Centre in the Bridge of Don.
Initially your child would come and try a class. If they enjoy the class and wish the take the place our admin team will send you out a payment link for our annual membership fee and the remainder of that month’s class fees. Monthly fees thereafter are paid by direct debit.
Membership starts at Bronze level and involves one 2 hour session per week. These sessions are primarily centred around fun and fitness whilst learning fundamental gymnastics elements. Recreational Bronze Membership starts at Age 5 and over. Recreational bronze is our entry level membership but those looking for a bit of extra challenge they can choose to increase their hours to Silver or Gold once they have been attending for a few months allowing them to train up to 4 - 6 hours per week.
Children who show an aptitude for the sport are referred onto the Aberdeen Gymnastics Club, which trains at the Aberdeen Gymnastics Centre.
Our holiday camp programme runs during the Easter, Summer and October holidays where gymnastics is provided Monday to Friday from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 to 4.00 pm each day.
Saturday gymnasts can choose which weekday they would like to use their half day. Recreational Bronze members receive one half day per week as part of their fees, Silver members receive two half days and Gold members 3 half days per week. Additional days or half days can be booked through reception at either of our centres.
This gives both gymnasts and coaches their evenings and weekends free to spend with friends and family during holiday periods.
Preschool gymnasts require something comfortable to move around in, such as leggings or shorts and t-shirts. Bronze members and upwards should purchase a training leotard once they have decided to take a place. The leotard from our suppliers are good value, elastic and can last the gymnasts a few years. Links to the relevant suppliers are below:
It is not essential for members to have any equipment; however they will need palm guards to protect their hands whilst using the bars and gloves and loops when they are advised they need them by their coach. The bars are abrasive and so little hands need protection when swinging.
Palm guards for the little ones and hand guards and ring guards for bigger gymnasts can be purchased from Gymnastic Express using the following link:https://gymnasticsexpress.co.uk

Typically, the first hour of gymnastics will consist of a warmup, a general stretch, flexibility development, work on gymnastics shapes, handstands, floor lines and choreography for girls.
The second hour will consist of several rotations across our Olympic apparatus with a general focus on vault, bars, beam and floor for girls and floor, pommels, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar for boys. This hour will be tailored to your son or daughter’s age and ability.
Yes, in order to perform gymnastics safely, it is important that gymnasts can move freely without hair being caught on anything.
We operate a strict no jewellery policy for the health and safety of all our members. Earrings cannot be taped and must be removed before gymnastics. This is in our terms and conditions.
Unfortunately, we do not have facilities for viewing at the Aberdeen Gymnastics Centre on the Lang Stracht.
For our preschool classes we encourage parents to join us on the last week of each term in the gym to see their child’s progress. For our recreational members, we host regular competitions 2-3 times per year where parents are encouraged to watch the competitions, where they can see their child’s progress.
Happily, for our preschoolers and gymnasts who attend the Silverburn Gymnastics Centre in the Bridge of Don, parents can view the gymnastics from our spectator’s gallery.
Yes, we host 2-3 Floor & Vault competitions each year for those that wish to participate. It is a great way for gymnasts to show off their skills, gain experience in learning and remembering a routine along with competing in front of an audience and the judges.
The closing date for a competition is the last possible date you can enter your child into a competition. Closing dates are necessary as we must then decide the best way to organise the competition. This is entirely based on the number of entrants in each age group and in each category.
We cannot tell parents when their child is likely to compete until the competition programme has been finalised. If we continue to take entries beyond the closing date, this pushes back the date we can provide the programme to parents and may also alter the competition timings.
Closing dates are final and we do not accept any late entries.
In the first instance, please speak with your child’s coach to resolve any issues. Coaches will be available for 5-10 mins at the start and end of every session if you need to speak with your child’s coach. If the matter cannot be resolved, then ask to speak with a centre manager.
Our Terms and Conditions can be found on the website and are provided to parents to sign up to when they receive our electronic registration form.
